Narrative:
Controller started us down late to make shine intersection at 11000 ft, 250 KTS. Advised controller we could make the altitude restr, but not the speed. So he leveled us off at 12000 ft and turned us. No evasive actions. Copilot was flying at the time.

Title: FLC OF AN MD80 WAS A LATE DSCNT FOR MAKING AN ALT AND SPD XING RESTR RESULTING IN ADVISING ATC ACCORDINGLY. THEREFORE, ATC AMENDED THE ALT HIGHER WHERE IT COULD BE MET.
Narrative: CTLR STARTED US DOWN LATE TO MAKE SHINE INTXN AT 11000 FT, 250 KTS. ADVISED CTLR WE COULD MAKE THE ALT RESTR, BUT NOT THE SPD. SO HE LEVELED US OFF AT 12000 FT AND TURNED US. NO EVASIVE ACTIONS. COPLT WAS FLYING AT THE TIME.
