DC10 was cleared to descend to 13000 ft. Altimeter setting was 29 pt 30 but flight crew claims ATC had informed them the altimeter was 30 pt 30. When aircraft was leveled at 13000 ft on the altimeter, it was actually at 12000 ft.

Narrative:
On vectors by den approach control, cleared to 13000 ft, altimeter issued 30.30. After leveling, controller advised he showed us at 12000 ft, then reclred us to 8000 ft. During that descent we noticed ATIS altimeter was 29.30.
