Narrative:
While on the 086 degree radial ign, TCASII avoidance RA commanded a climb. Aircraft was doing 310 KIAS, climbed from 16000 ft to 17400 ft at 2500 FPM climb. Aircraft was VMC. Conflicting aircraft was going in opposite direction at 15500 ft, was not advised by radar (bos) that possible conflict was present. Notified bos of climb and descended to cleared altitude of 16000 ft. Could have been possibly avoided had ZBW given advisory of aircraft in opposite direction at 500 ft below our altitude.

Title: ALTDEV ALT EXCURSION FROM ASSIGNED. TCASII RA ON OPPOSITE DIRECTION TFC.
Narrative: WHILE ON THE 086 DEG RADIAL IGN, TCASII AVOIDANCE RA COMMANDED A CLB. ACFT WAS DOING 310 KIAS, CLBED FROM 16000 FT TO 17400 FT AT 2500 FPM CLB. ACFT WAS VMC. CONFLICTING ACFT WAS GOING IN OPPOSITE DIRECTION AT 15500 FT, WAS NOT ADVISED BY RADAR (BOS) THAT POSSIBLE CONFLICT WAS PRESENT. NOTIFIED BOS OF CLB AND DSNDED TO CLRED ALT OF 16000 FT. COULD HAVE BEEN POSSIBLY AVOIDED HAD ZBW GIVEN ADVISORY OF ACFT IN OPPOSITE DIRECTION AT 500 FT BELOW OUR ALT.
