Narrative:
During taxi to runway 23R at rdu I entered ILS critical area and pulled up to hold short line. I was never told by ground or tower to hold short of critical area. Another aircraft advised me and I promptly left the area. No incident occurred. I think it would be a good idea if ground issued hold short of critical area in their taxi instructions.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: MLG WAS CLRED TO RWY 23R BUT NOT TOLD TO HOLD SHORT OF THE ILS CRITICAL AREA. RPTR DID, HOWEVER, CLR THE AREA WHEN ADVISED BY ANOTHER ACFT THAT HE WAS IN THE AREA. WX NOT GIVEN BUT IT IS AN ATC RESPONSIBILITY TO TELL ACFT TO HOLD SHORT OF THE CRITICAL AREA.
