Narrative:
While landing with traffic on 2 mi final, I missed my desired taxiway due to excessive speed and nursing a low nose strut. I was told by the controller, 'keep your speed up and let me know when you're clear of the active, you've got traffic on short final.' when clear of the active, I called the tower. I received no response as the aircraft following me initiated a go around and the controller told them I was clear. I then proceeded to taxi to my ramp without contacting ground control. I feel that I was definitely in error for both not contacting ground, but also for not calling the tower after receiving no response. Had the controller answered my call, they would have said, 'contact ground point niner and have a good evening,' thus reminding me to call ground control. Having been rushed by the controller, and still not fast enough to clear the runway, I was distraction by having caused the other aircraft to go around.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: PVT PLT MISSES FIRST AVAILABLE TXWY TURNOFF AFTER LNDG. HE WAS 'NURSING' THE BRAKES ON ACCOUNT OF A LOW NOSEGEAR STRUT. THIS ACTION CAUSED FOLLOWING ACFT ON SHORT FINAL TO GAR. PLT NOW BOTHERED BY THIS, FAILS TO CONTACT GND CTLR PRIOR TO TAXIING TO RAMP.
Narrative: WHILE LNDG WITH TFC ON 2 MI FINAL, I MISSED MY DESIRED TXWY DUE TO EXCESSIVE SPD AND NURSING A LOW NOSE STRUT. I WAS TOLD BY THE CTLR, 'KEEP YOUR SPD UP AND LET ME KNOW WHEN YOU'RE CLR OF THE ACTIVE, YOU'VE GOT TFC ON SHORT FINAL.' WHEN CLR OF THE ACTIVE, I CALLED THE TWR. I RECEIVED NO RESPONSE AS THE ACFT FOLLOWING ME INITIATED A GAR AND THE CTLR TOLD THEM I WAS CLR. I THEN PROCEEDED TO TAXI TO MY RAMP WITHOUT CONTACTING GND CTL. I FEEL THAT I WAS DEFINITELY IN ERROR FOR BOTH NOT CONTACTING GND, BUT ALSO FOR NOT CALLING THE TWR AFTER RECEIVING NO RESPONSE. HAD THE CTLR ANSWERED MY CALL, THEY WOULD HAVE SAID, 'CONTACT GND POINT NINER AND HAVE A GOOD EVENING,' THUS REMINDING ME TO CALL GND CTL. HAVING BEEN RUSHED BY THE CTLR, AND STILL NOT FAST ENOUGH TO CLR THE RWY, I WAS DISTR BY HAVING CAUSED THE OTHER ACFT TO GAR.
