Narrative:
Departed runway 26 at poc, left (south) downwind departure. Destination was on 115 degree radial from pom VOR. On turning downwind, requested frequency change to contact socal approach and began climb to 3500 ft. Socal was busy and I called 2-3 times before response and was advised to stay clear of class C airspace. At that time I observed that I had already entered the airspace. I turned south at that time to exit the airspace. Corrective actions: 1) request class C service prior to takeoff. 2) stay on top of location better before entering class C or other airspace.
