Narrative:
Scheduled flight on feb/tue/97 between dtw and dfw. While being vectored to join the bowie 1 arrival to dfw, at FL350, we received 4 xmissions between PM25Z and PM35Z, from a person identing himself as 'fort worth.' all 4 calls were transmitted on 132.97, the frequency we were using, and were as follows: 'air carrier xyz, fort worth.' we responded, but received no reply. Again 'air carrier xyz, fort worth.' we responded again and this time another voice came on the frequency and informed us that fort worth was not calling us. The 'real' controller never heard any of the unauthorized xmissions. My main concern was that the calls really did sound legitimate, and if we had been given a turn, or descend instructions, we would have acknowledged, then complied. We reported these xmissions to the controller on duty on 132.97. I also verbally debriefed staff engineer, mr X, at union's national office about this on feb/wed/97.
