Narrative:
We had just departed sfo. I was on my IOE line trip, after finishing training on my aircraft. The check airman revealed to me that on the takeoff roll just prior to V1 speed, sfo tower suddenly told us to cancel takeoff. I apparently did not hear it. The check airman did not say anything about it as we were close to V1 and he did not respond. Tower he thought wanted us to cancel takeoff for a landing aircraft on 2 mi final, which he felt was ridiculous, so he did not bring this to my attention until after the situation was long over. Tower did not call back or reconfirm. No conflicts occurred. I wish he would have brought it to my attention when it happened, instead of surprising me with it later.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: B767 PIC, CHK PLT, FAILS TO INFORM PF THAT TWR HAD ISSUED A CANCELLATION OF THEIR TKOF CLRNC, ORDERING THEM TO ABORT AS ACFT WAS APCHING V1, DECISION SPD.
Narrative: WE HAD JUST DEPARTED SFO. I WAS ON MY IOE LINE TRIP, AFTER FINISHING TRAINING ON MY ACFT. THE CHK AIRMAN REVEALED TO ME THAT ON THE TKOF ROLL JUST PRIOR TO V1 SPD, SFO TWR SUDDENLY TOLD US TO CANCEL TKOF. I APPARENTLY DID NOT HEAR IT. THE CHK AIRMAN DID NOT SAY ANYTHING ABOUT IT AS WE WERE CLOSE TO V1 AND HE DID NOT RESPOND. TWR HE THOUGHT WANTED US TO CANCEL TKOF FOR A LNDG ACFT ON 2 MI FINAL, WHICH HE FELT WAS RIDICULOUS, SO HE DID NOT BRING THIS TO MY ATTN UNTIL AFTER THE SIT WAS LONG OVER. TWR DID NOT CALL BACK OR RECONFIRM. NO CONFLICTS OCCURRED. I WISH HE WOULD HAVE BROUGHT IT TO MY ATTN WHEN IT HAPPENED, INSTEAD OF SURPRISING ME WITH IT LATER.
