Narrative:
ATC facility: smf tower. Location: takeoff. During takeoff rotation, bird struck the forward right fuselage at the ram air temperature probe causing the ram air temperature gauge, the tri and the autothrottles to become unusable. The effect was a much lower power setting than that required for a climb when climb power was selected. Once the autothrottle was disconnected the flight was uneventful using manual throttle with book settings.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: SUPER 80 FLC HAS BIRD STRIKE JUST AT ROTATION. THIS CAUSES THE RAM AIR TEMP GAUGE, THE TRI AND THE AUTOTHROTTLES TO BECOME UNUSABLE. AUTOTHROTTLES DISCONNECTED AND FLT CONTINUED WITH MANUAL THROTTLE AND BOOK SETTINGS.
Narrative: ATC FACILITY: SMF TWR. LOCATION: TKOF. DURING TKOF ROTATION, BIRD STRUCK THE FORWARD R FUSELAGE AT THE RAM AIR TEMP PROBE CAUSING THE RAM AIR TEMP GAUGE, THE TRI AND THE AUTOTHROTTLES TO BECOME UNUSABLE. THE EFFECT WAS A MUCH LOWER PWR SETTING THAN THAT REQUIRED FOR A CLB WHEN CLB PWR WAS SELECTED. ONCE THE AUTOTHROTTLE WAS DISCONNECTED THE FLT WAS UNEVENTFUL USING MANUAL THROTTLE WITH BOOK SETTINGS.
