Narrative:
We were taxiing on taxiway east with tower when they asked if we could use E10 for intersection takeoff. We responded with an affirmative. (An aircraft was holding on taxiway east pad to runway for a delayed departure.) I told the captain that I would be off ATC frequency to give the pre takeoff advisory to the flight attendants. When I returned to primary tower frequency, I advised the captain and he stated we were cleared into position to hold on runway 18R. I looked to my right on final and saw an aircraft appearing to be 3-4 mi on final. At that moment, an unidented voice on frequency said 'aircraft on final.' the tower then said something to the effect of 'air carrier X, were you cleared into position?' the captain then responded to ATC that we had received clearance. The tower then said to the effect, 'ok, you are cleared to hold in position.' we were cleared for takeoff about a min later without further question or incident. The aircraft on final was sent around and maintained pattern altitude. Supplemental information from acn 363084: small commuter on final went around.

Title: LCL CTLR CLRS AN ACR ACFT TO TAXI INTO POS AND HOLD WITH A COMMUTER ACFT ON 3-4 MI FINAL. SOMEONE ADVISED 'ACFT ON FINAL,' AND THE CTLR ISSUED A GAR AND CLRED THE ACR FOR TKOF.
Narrative: WE WERE TAXIING ON TXWY E WITH TWR WHEN THEY ASKED IF WE COULD USE E10 FOR INTXN TKOF. WE RESPONDED WITH AN AFFIRMATIVE. (AN ACFT WAS HOLDING ON TXWY E PAD TO RWY FOR A DELAYED DEP.) I TOLD THE CAPT THAT I WOULD BE OFF ATC FREQ TO GIVE THE PRE TKOF ADVISORY TO THE FLT ATTENDANTS. WHEN I RETURNED TO PRIMARY TWR FREQ, I ADVISED THE CAPT AND HE STATED WE WERE CLRED INTO POS TO HOLD ON RWY 18R. I LOOKED TO MY R ON FINAL AND SAW AN ACFT APPEARING TO BE 3-4 MI ON FINAL. AT THAT MOMENT, AN UNIDENTED VOICE ON FREQ SAID 'ACFT ON FINAL.' THE TWR THEN SAID SOMETHING TO THE EFFECT OF 'ACR X, WERE YOU CLRED INTO POS?' THE CAPT THEN RESPONDED TO ATC THAT WE HAD RECEIVED CLRNC. THE TWR THEN SAID TO THE EFFECT, 'OK, YOU ARE CLRED TO HOLD IN POS.' WE WERE CLRED FOR TKOF ABOUT A MIN LATER WITHOUT FURTHER QUESTION OR INCIDENT. THE ACFT ON FINAL WAS SENT AROUND AND MAINTAINED PATTERN ALT. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 363084: SMALL COMMUTER ON FINAL WENT AROUND.
