Narrative:

We received pop-up TA from our TCASII 500 ft below, 12 O'clock, 2 1/2 mi. I looked out to see a U2 in a steep climb, 12 O'clock opposite direction. I took the controls and rushed over. The U2 passed 100 ft over us. I queried the controller who then started yelling at the U2 pilot. The controller told us he was on the wrong squawk code and altitude.

Title: NMAC BTWN A BA31 CLBING AFTER DEP AND A GOV U2 CLBING IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION. CAPT OF THE BA31 PUSHED THE ACFT OVER TO RAPIDLY DSND OUT OF THE ONCOMING FLT PATH OF THE U2. ATC ADVISED THAT THE U2 WAS AT THE WRONG ALT AND SQUAWKING THE WRONG CODE!
