Narrative:
On climb out we noticed that the first officer's eadi (electronic attitude indicator) was missing the inclinometer (slip ball indicator in lateral tube), which is attached externally to the tube case with 2 screws. This eadi had been changed a couple of days earlier and the mechanic apparently forgot to xfer the inclinometer to the new instrument. Checking that this is present is not part of any crew member's cockpit preflight duties. We checked our MEL and found that this is not listed, therefore not deferrable. We had the part sent on a flight leaving 2 hours behind us and it was installed prior to our next leg.

Title: A DC8-73F WAS DISPATCHED WITH THE FO'S LATERAL TUBE MISSING FROM THE ELECTRONIC ATTITUDE DEV INDICATOR, A NON DEFERRABLE ITEM.
Narrative: ON CLBOUT WE NOTICED THAT THE FO'S EADI (ELECTRONIC ATTITUDE INDICATOR) WAS MISSING THE INCLINOMETER (SLIP BALL INDICATOR IN LATERAL TUBE), WHICH IS ATTACHED EXTERNALLY TO THE TUBE CASE WITH 2 SCREWS. THIS EADI HAD BEEN CHANGED A COUPLE OF DAYS EARLIER AND THE MECH APPARENTLY FORGOT TO XFER THE INCLINOMETER TO THE NEW INST. CHKING THAT THIS IS PRESENT IS NOT PART OF ANY CREW MEMBER'S COCKPIT PREFLT DUTIES. WE CHKED OUR MEL AND FOUND THAT THIS IS NOT LISTED, THEREFORE NOT DEFERRABLE. WE HAD THE PART SENT ON A FLT LEAVING 2 HRS BEHIND US AND IT WAS INSTALLED PRIOR TO OUR NEXT LEG.
