Narrative:

After takeoff, selected gear up, hydraulic light came on, noticed low hydraulic level/press. Performed memory items and performed procedures. Declared an emergency, returned to jfk and landed safely. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: reporter was contacted and revealed the following details. The aircraft was a saab 340B. The hydraulic loss occurred as the gear was in-transit to the retract position. The reporter stated the use of the QRH and cockpit resource management made everything go smoothly. The reporter said this CRM training really worked.
