Narrative:
Cleared to 3000 ft MSL. Flew through 3800 ft. All 3 of us realized error simultaneously. We descended immediately to 3000 ft. Fwa departure did not inform us of our altitude deviation. We assume they missed it. We were not at 3800 ft for more than 5 seconds. No traffic conflicts occurred.

Title: B727 FLC FAIL TO NOTE ALTDEV UNTIL 800 FT ABOVE ASSIGNED ALT. DEP CTLR FAILS TO NOTE AS WELL. NO MENTION MADE OF USING ALT ALERTER OR ANY CREW COORD EFFORTS.
Narrative: CLRED TO 3000 FT MSL. FLEW THROUGH 3800 FT. ALL 3 OF US REALIZED ERROR SIMULTANEOUSLY. WE DSNDED IMMEDIATELY TO 3000 FT. FWA DEP DID NOT INFORM US OF OUR ALTDEV. WE ASSUME THEY MISSED IT. WE WERE NOT AT 3800 FT FOR MORE THAN 5 SECONDS. NO TFC CONFLICTS OCCURRED.
