Narrative:

In sum: air carrier B737 was taxiing into msp at night, but his gate was occupied by another air carrier B727. The B737 was taxied to a position facing the occupied gate, awaiting the B727's departure. When the B727 had finished the pushback from the gate, ground control issued a left turn away from the gate and away from the B737. Instead, the B727 made a right turn towards the B737 who was now in motion, anticipating the taxi to the cleared gate. Repeated commands from ground and repeated taxi light flashing to the B727 was for naught. They failed to move over or even to acknowledge the presence of the B737, now stopped. The wingtip of the taxiing B727 missed the B737 cockpit by 10 ft.
