Narrative:

On apr/thu/97, I was performing a photo flight in the vicinity of dallas love airport. After obtaining clearance into the area from the tower, I proceeded to the photo site. After several different radio calls and not being clearly understood by the control tower, I was requested to leave the area via a easterly heading towards white rock lake. I then informed the tower that I wanted to proceed to addison airport for fuel. ATC advised me that he wanted me out of his airspace to proceed to white rock lake. In doing so, I noticed that the low fuel light came on even though the fuel gauge read approximately 6 gals and decided to perform a precautionary landing in an open field.
