Narrative:
Instructed to expedite descent over jvl for immediate approach into ord. We were entering holding with an efc time 45 mins to go. During descent we were circumnaving severe thunderstorms in moderate turbulence. WX distrs caused getting the ATIS going through FL180. Heard ATC give current setting so I continued to copy ATIS. Upon leveling off, the mistake was noticed. The altimeter setting for ord was 29.16 which put us below 11000 ft. We corrected our altitude while talking to ATC. No remarks from ATC.
