Narrative:
We got a WX briefing in wichita that said as long as we were south of goodland we should be in the clear as far as storms. En route we tried to reach flight watch to get an update as well as flight service, but got no response. ZKC advised us of a convective segmet now issued for that area. We proceeded into the storms as stormscope indicated nothing in our path. We saw updrafts-downdrafts of 2000 FPM. The plane almost stalled over 5 different times. Lowering the gear I believe helped dramatically. The controller took us south to get us out of the storms and had to find us an airport to land at. We hadn't planned a way out as we didn't think we should encounter thunderstorms. In the future I'll give thunderstorms a much greater margin. I'll always plan a way out!
