Narrative:
The flight was made to fulfill the night flying requirements of a student pilot. We were the only airplane in the pattern. We had already made one landing to a full stop, taxied via txwys and taken off. While on the ground we did not see any deer. We stayed in the pattern for a second landing. We touched down before the fixed distance markers. Approximately 2000 ft down the runway a deer running full speed trying to cross the runway ran into the left cowling and was then struck by the propeller. I was looking down the runway and to the right and did not see the deer until it hit the airplane. The propeller came to a stop. The airplane and the deer were removed from the runway. The student was flying the entire time. It was a dark moonless night.
