Narrative:
Upon checking in with ZLA we were told to go direct ipl. Since that wasn't on the flight plan, I queried ATC what we should do after that. He then quickly gave me a route that did not sound familiar. I read him what we had and asked if we were getting a rerte -- if he could read it so I could copy it. The new route given was direct ipl J2 gbn J50 sso J4 ink acton 4 arrival to dfw. I asked him to verify the arrival. He once again said acton. I told him it didn't exist anymore and he then told me I'd have to check with ZFW when we got there. Checking in with ZAB, I again asked them to verify our route due to the confusion out of ZLA. They gave us direct ewm J4 ink acton arrival. At this point we told them we'd like to stay on current routing to gbn until we got things straightened out, and I mentioned to him that acton arrival no longer existed, that he must mean the glen rose. He then replied acton was still in their computers, but that yeah, glen rose is ok, and that we could continue to gbn, but he needed us over ewm after that. Monitoring the calls from other aircraft as they checked in, it appeared everyone was confused about clrncs coming out of ZLA today. We felt the complete rerte should have been given to us prior to takeoff, as opposed to climbing out of the los angeles basin, and that ATC needs to update their computers on what stars are actually in existence.

Title: FLC OF B767 RECEIVED CONFUSING RERTE CLRNCS FROM THE CTR INCLUDING A STAR TO DFW WHICH NO LONGER EXISTED BUT WAS STILL IN THE CTR COMPUTER. RPTR SAID THAT IT APPEARED FROM MONITORED CALLS THAT EVERYONE WAS CONFUSED ABOUT CLRNCS COMING OUT OF ZLA.
