Narrative:
On starting descent to 7000 ft, we encountered severe wake disruption. There was no traffic reported to us and no aircraft on TCASII near us at the time. The disruption knocked one of the flight attendants off her feet and she was injured as a result. I accompanied her to air carrier medical and to the air carrier injury counselor's office at dfw after landing. She was having a hard time walking and a great deal of trouble getting down the stairs. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: reporter participated in the structured wake turbulence callback program. Reporter had this sharp jolt that displaced the aircraft downward and simultaneously injured a flight attendant. Reporter could not identify the aircraft that produced the turbulence. He inquired as to what type aircraft he was following, but there was no answer. TRACON was talking to a B757, but the reporter had no idea where he was. Reporter assumes the B757 produced the wake, but other than that, he has no idea where the wake was generated that struck his aircraft.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: A F100 DSNDING INTO DFW ENCOUNTERS A SHARP JOLT OF TURB. A CABIN ATTENDANT IS INJURED AND RECEIVES MEDICAL TREATMENT UPON ARR IN DFW. CABIN ATTENDANT'S INJURIES ARE A PULLED MUSCLE. PLT IS UNCERTAIN AS TO WHAT ACFT CAUSED THE WAKE TURB.
Narrative: ON STARTING DSCNT TO 7000 FT, WE ENCOUNTERED SEVERE WAKE DISRUPTION. THERE WAS NO TFC RPTED TO US AND NO ACFT ON TCASII NEAR US AT THE TIME. THE DISRUPTION KNOCKED ONE OF THE FLT ATTENDANTS OFF HER FEET AND SHE WAS INJURED AS A RESULT. I ACCOMPANIED HER TO ACR MEDICAL AND TO THE ACR INJURY COUNSELOR'S OFFICE AT DFW AFTER LNDG. SHE WAS HAVING A HARD TIME WALKING AND A GREAT DEAL OF TROUBLE GETTING DOWN THE STAIRS. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: RPTR PARTICIPATED IN THE STRUCTURED WAKE TURB CALLBACK PROGRAM. RPTR HAD THIS SHARP JOLT THAT DISPLACED THE ACFT DOWNWARD AND SIMULTANEOUSLY INJURED A FLT ATTENDANT. RPTR COULD NOT IDENT THE ACFT THAT PRODUCED THE TURB. HE INQUIRED AS TO WHAT TYPE ACFT HE WAS FOLLOWING, BUT THERE WAS NO ANSWER. TRACON WAS TALKING TO A B757, BUT THE RPTR HAD NO IDEA WHERE HE WAS. RPTR ASSUMES THE B757 PRODUCED THE WAKE, BUT OTHER THAN THAT, HE HAS NO IDEA WHERE THE WAKE WAS GENERATED THAT STRUCK HIS ACFT.
