Narrative:
We were in radio contact and squawking with approach control in local wichita airspace and requested the ILS runway 13 at hutchinson, ks, via vectors. We were 'cleared for the approach, remain VFR, separation services not provided.' at approximately a 2 mi final, we realized that we had never been switched over to tower. We attempted to contact tower and finally reached them when on a 1/2 mi final. They inquired as to why such a late handoff and requested we break off the approach to the left. We broke off the approach and went around. Evidently a navajo was behind us and did a 360 degree turn for spacing. Tower told us they would get us another ILS. We asked to remain in the touch-and-go pattern, and as they appeared busy, we then asked to return to wichita.
