Narrative:

Flight was originally aborted for #1 altimeter inoperative. After maintenance was performed, flight was resumed and large altimeter and vsi differences were noted at leveloff. Maintenance was contacted and we were told that they knew what the problem was and that there would be a sure fix at the destination. They indicated that the first officer side altimeter was correct. Upon arrival at destination, postflt revealed tape covering right side static ports. Cockpit indications matched when alternate static source was selected.
