Narrative:
IFR flight plan to pdx from rno. Approach suggested that I cancel to VFR with flight following as I approached the field to avoid 'getting in line behind the jets.' I agreed. I was instructed to cross midfield (heading north) and enter downwind for the 'north runway' runway 16R. Turning back to final, I lost sight of runway 16R and rolled out with runway 16L in my sights. Before touchdown, I heard tower announce that runway 16L would be closing momentarily, and this was followed by the statement, 'runway 16L is now closed.' before touchdown, tower called for me to 'go around' and land on runway 16R as instructed. No conflicts ensued. Example of complacency after a long day.

Title: PVT PLT OF AN SMA SEL TURNED FINAL TO THE WRONG PARALLEL RWY RESULTING IN ATC INTERVENTION ALERT AND SENDING RPTR AROUND JUST PRIOR TO LNDG TOUCHDOWN.
Narrative: IFR FLT PLAN TO PDX FROM RNO. APCH SUGGESTED THAT I CANCEL TO VFR WITH FLT FOLLOWING AS I APCHED THE FIELD TO AVOID 'GETTING IN LINE BEHIND THE JETS.' I AGREED. I WAS INSTRUCTED TO CROSS MIDFIELD (HDG N) AND ENTER DOWNWIND FOR THE 'N RWY' RWY 16R. TURNING BACK TO FINAL, I LOST SIGHT OF RWY 16R AND ROLLED OUT WITH RWY 16L IN MY SIGHTS. BEFORE TOUCHDOWN, I HEARD TWR ANNOUNCE THAT RWY 16L WOULD BE CLOSING MOMENTARILY, AND THIS WAS FOLLOWED BY THE STATEMENT, 'RWY 16L IS NOW CLOSED.' BEFORE TOUCHDOWN, TWR CALLED FOR ME TO 'GAR' AND LAND ON RWY 16R AS INSTRUCTED. NO CONFLICTS ENSUED. EXAMPLE OF COMPLACENCY AFTER A LONG DAY.
