Narrative:
I was entering the left downwind for runway 21 and the DC9 came very close as he departed runway 18. I thought the DC9 had already turned out but he was still on the upwind leg. Controller should have called traffic. I should have been more vigilant looking for traffic. DC9 could have been more vigilant.

Title: POTENTIAL CONFLICT BTWN DEPARTING DC9 ON A CONVERGING COURSE WITH A C172 ENTERING DOWNWIND FOR AN INTERSECTING RWY. RPTR STATED NO TFC WAS ISSUED BY THE CTLR.
Narrative: I WAS ENTERING THE L DOWNWIND FOR RWY 21 AND THE DC9 CAME VERY CLOSE AS HE DEPARTED RWY 18. I THOUGHT THE DC9 HAD ALREADY TURNED OUT BUT HE WAS STILL ON THE UPWIND LEG. CTLR SHOULD HAVE CALLED TFC. I SHOULD HAVE BEEN MORE VIGILANT LOOKING FOR TFC. DC9 COULD HAVE BEEN MORE VIGILANT.
