Narrative:
During taxi out at abq to runway 26, ATC changed our runway assignment to runway 8. This created a requirement to rechk airport analysis data and reconfigure bug settings. This, along with numerous hold short taxi instructions, left just enough time to rechk and reset data and instruments for the new runway assignment. We were then cleared into position, followed by clearance to 'comply with nose abatement, then turn left heading 310 degrees, cleared for takeoff runway 8.' the clearance reminded me that I had not checked the noise abatement procedure, so I immediately referenced my page for the data (while still in position). I looked at the wrong text (for runway 26) that did not specify a delay (DME fix) prior to turning. Consequently, after takeoff, we made our left turn to 310 degrees approximately 1 mi prior to the abq 13.5 DME arc. (The correct procedure for runway 8 specifies 'if executing a left turn, delay turning until abq 13.5 DME'.) in the future, I will ensure that I have the correct information, and if last min changes like this occur, I will ask the tower operator to simply state what the noise abatement procedure is to prevent repeating this type of error.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: A B757 ACFT ON SID DEP WAS CLRED TO A DIFFERENT RWY FOR TKOF. FLC FELT RUSHED AND WHEN TWR CLRED THEM TO COMPLY WITH NOISE ABATEMENT PROC, CAPT RPTR LOOKED UP THE PROC, BUT FOR THE WRONG RWY. CONSEQUENTLY, FLC TURNED 1 MI EARLY.
Narrative: DURING TAXI OUT AT ABQ TO RWY 26, ATC CHANGED OUR RWY ASSIGNMENT TO RWY 8. THIS CREATED A REQUIREMENT TO RECHK ARPT ANALYSIS DATA AND RECONFIGURE BUG SETTINGS. THIS, ALONG WITH NUMEROUS HOLD SHORT TAXI INSTRUCTIONS, LEFT JUST ENOUGH TIME TO RECHK AND RESET DATA AND INSTS FOR THE NEW RWY ASSIGNMENT. WE WERE THEN CLRED INTO POS, FOLLOWED BY CLRNC TO 'COMPLY WITH NOSE ABATEMENT, THEN TURN L HDG 310 DEGS, CLRED FOR TKOF RWY 8.' THE CLRNC REMINDED ME THAT I HAD NOT CHKED THE NOISE ABATEMENT PROC, SO I IMMEDIATELY REFED MY PAGE FOR THE DATA (WHILE STILL IN POS). I LOOKED AT THE WRONG TEXT (FOR RWY 26) THAT DID NOT SPECIFY A DELAY (DME FIX) PRIOR TO TURNING. CONSEQUENTLY, AFTER TKOF, WE MADE OUR L TURN TO 310 DEGS APPROX 1 MI PRIOR TO THE ABQ 13.5 DME ARC. (THE CORRECT PROC FOR RWY 8 SPECIFIES 'IF EXECUTING A L TURN, DELAY TURNING UNTIL ABQ 13.5 DME'.) IN THE FUTURE, I WILL ENSURE THAT I HAVE THE CORRECT INFO, AND IF LAST MIN CHANGES LIKE THIS OCCUR, I WILL ASK THE TWR OPERATOR TO SIMPLY STATE WHAT THE NOISE ABATEMENT PROC IS TO PREVENT REPEATING THIS TYPE OF ERROR.
