Narrative:
On an air carrier flight from bos to phl, the routing that has existed for yrs was changed for a 30 day trial that same morning. The ATC clearance in boston was 'as filed,' which I noted at that time, but unfortunately forgot later that the route had changed. The controller noticed the turn on the old route almost immediately, at which time we corrected the course and intercepted the new one. Our mistake, in my opinion, was partly because of our familiarity with the old routing, and partially the very early morning wake- up/lack of sleep, which caused me not to notice the mistake before the controller did. There also could have been an extra note on the release to remind the crew about the change.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: AN ACR SF340 FLC NOTED THAT THERE WAS A NEW ROUTING BTWN BOS AND PHL AND COPIED A CLRNC THAT FOLLOWED THIS NEW RTE. HOWEVER, AS THEY FLEW THEY FOUND THAT THEY HAD INADVERTENTLY JOINED THE OLD RTE. THE ALERT ARTCC CTLR CAUGHT THEIR ERROR IMMEDIATELY AND DIRECTED THEM BACK TO THEIR CLRED RTE.

THE ATC CLRNC IN BOSTON WAS 'AS FILED,' WHICH I NOTED AT THAT TIME, BUT UNFORTUNATELY FORGOT LATER THAT THE RTE HAD CHANGED. THE CTLR NOTICED THE TURN ON THE OLD RTE ALMOST IMMEDIATELY, AT WHICH TIME WE CORRECTED THE COURSE AND INTERCEPTED THE NEW ONE. OUR MISTAKE, IN MY OPINION, WAS PARTLY BECAUSE OF OUR FAMILIARITY WITH THE OLD ROUTING, AND PARTIALLY THE VERY EARLY MORNING WAKE- UP/LACK OF SLEEP, WHICH CAUSED ME NOT TO NOTICE THE MISTAKE BEFORE THE CTLR DID. THERE ALSO COULD HAVE BEEN AN EXTRA NOTE ON THE RELEASE TO REMIND THE CREW ABOUT THE CHANGE.
