Narrative:
The aircraft was damaged on landing at lunken airport, cincinnati, oh. It was damaged when the starboard landing gear (wheel) made contact with the edge of the concrete slab of the runway because the aircraft settled prematurely to the ground. When depressed by a wind gust, it was no longer possible to apply engine power in time to avoid premature ground contact, and land in normal fashion. The existence of a step transition (about 3 inches) between the grass and the runway itself was neither visible, nor was it expected, otherwise a larger margin of landing distance would have been maintained on the approach.

Title: PLT OF A PIPER PA30 TWIN COMMANCHE, MADE A HARD LNDG WHEN HE LANDED SHORT OF THE RWY THRESHOLD, CAUSING DAMAGE TO THE ACFT L MAIN WHEEL ASSEMBLY.
Narrative: THE ACFT WAS DAMAGED ON LNDG AT LUNKEN ARPT, CINCINNATI, OH. IT WAS DAMAGED WHEN THE STARBOARD LNDG GEAR (WHEEL) MADE CONTACT WITH THE EDGE OF THE CONCRETE SLAB OF THE RWY BECAUSE THE ACFT SETTLED PREMATURELY TO THE GND. WHEN DEPRESSED BY A WIND GUST, IT WAS NO LONGER POSSIBLE TO APPLY ENG PWR IN TIME TO AVOID PREMATURE GND CONTACT, AND LAND IN NORMAL FASHION. THE EXISTENCE OF A STEP TRANSITION (ABOUT 3 INCHES) BTWN THE GRASS AND THE RWY ITSELF WAS NEITHER VISIBLE, NOR WAS IT EXPECTED, OTHERWISE A LARGER MARGIN OF LNDG DISTANCE WOULD HAVE BEEN MAINTAINED ON THE APCH.
