Narrative:
On approach to runway 25R lax while transitioning from the mudde arrival, bonez to flung requires non precision approach altitude xings before coupling the aircraft to the ILS. Apparently while following the GS instead of adhering to the altitudes exactly, I went below the altitude of 8000 ft required at squirt. The workload on final tempts one to fly the GS or at least somewhat above it, and I accepted what I thought was 'only' 100-200 ft low instead of being exact. For one, I shall be more exacting and less tempted towards 'close enough for government work....' I do recommend, however, that the crossing altitude at squirt be lowered to a GS equivalent altitude and the area requiring the 8000 ft altitude be lowered also. From my understanding, this crossing restr is 'busted' quite often -- certainly not on purpose, and approach control keeps a special eye out just for it. We do not need any built in traps -- there are enough as it is.

Title: B757 ACFT ON APCH DSNDED BELOW RESTR XING ALT WHILE FOLLOWING ILS GS.
Narrative: ON APCH TO RWY 25R LAX WHILE TRANSITIONING FROM THE MUDDE ARR, BONEZ TO FLUNG REQUIRES NON PRECISION APCH ALT XINGS BEFORE COUPLING THE ACFT TO THE ILS. APPARENTLY WHILE FOLLOWING THE GS INSTEAD OF ADHERING TO THE ALTS EXACTLY, I WENT BELOW THE ALT OF 8000 FT REQUIRED AT SQUIRT. THE WORKLOAD ON FINAL TEMPTS ONE TO FLY THE GS OR AT LEAST SOMEWHAT ABOVE IT, AND I ACCEPTED WHAT I THOUGHT WAS 'ONLY' 100-200 FT LOW INSTEAD OF BEING EXACT. FOR ONE, I SHALL BE MORE EXACTING AND LESS TEMPTED TOWARDS 'CLOSE ENOUGH FOR GOV WORK....' I DO RECOMMEND, HOWEVER, THAT THE XING ALT AT SQUIRT BE LOWERED TO A GS EQUIVALENT ALT AND THE AREA REQUIRING THE 8000 FT ALT BE LOWERED ALSO. FROM MY UNDERSTANDING, THIS XING RESTR IS 'BUSTED' QUITE OFTEN -- CERTAINLY NOT ON PURPOSE, AND APCH CTL KEEPS A SPECIAL EYE OUT JUST FOR IT. WE DO NOT NEED ANY BUILT IN TRAPS -- THERE ARE ENOUGH AS IT IS.
