Narrative:
The ASR 9 radar was showing 6 levels of WX. There was no WX in the area. Maintenance says there is no way to fix this problem. We must have the WX displayed on the radar scope and it degrades the true targets.

Title: APCH CTLR COMPLAINT ABOUT FALSE WX INFO ON HIS ASR 9 RADAR, CITES CLR WX AND ERRONEOUS WX INFO DEGRADING THE ACFT TARGETS. MAINT SAYS THEY CAN'T FIX THE PROB.
Narrative: THE ASR 9 RADAR WAS SHOWING 6 LEVELS OF WX. THERE WAS NO WX IN THE AREA. MAINT SAYS THERE IS NO WAY TO FIX THIS PROB. WE MUST HAVE THE WX DISPLAYED ON THE RADAR SCOPE AND IT DEGRADES THE TRUE TARGETS.
