Narrative:
Flight # xx arrived at the gate, and unloaded passenger. An air carrier mechanic came to cockpit and asked if 'the crew noticed whether they hit anything taxiing into the gate?' captain replied 'no.' mechanic stated that the 'right tire was cut and there was a notch missing.' captain, copilot and relief pilot looked at the right, front outside tire where the notch was observed as stated by the mechanic. Observation of the tire showed no grass or mud. There was a light covering of dust but otherwise the tire was clean. All 3 crew stated that they did not feel or see anything unusual during the taxi. All 3 crew were in the cockpit during taxi. Mechanic then stated he would be calling the gatwick airport authority/authorized to check the taxiway for anything unusual. Crew left for crew rest at abc, england. About 3 hours later at about XY00 pm london time, captain got a call from air carrier station manager stating 'air carrier xx had run over a taxiway light and the gatwick airport authority/authorized would be charging air carrier for the taxi light.' she asked the captain what he knew about it and the captain replied that at 'no time did the aircraft leave the taxiway.' other cockpit crew confirmed this.
