Narrative:

At 80-90 KTS on takeoff heard a loud bang followed by a second bang and felt the aircraft yaw to the right. Aborted the takeoff and turned off the runway. Determined from tower and an airport operations vehicle that there was no external damage or smoke coming from the aircraft. The #2 right engine (B757) had a high egt at idle, near the caution band and no observed N1 RPM. Shut down the engine using the fuel control switch and requested a gate and maintenance support. An aircraft behind us (waiting for takeoff) observed 2-4 seconds of flame coming out the rear of #2 engine during takeoff roll. Returned to gate and presented the aircraft to maintenance. They replaced #2 engine.
