After landing and parked, reporter pilot was asked by customs officer for his pilot certificate and medical. Reporter had neither with him so customs said they would send a report to miami headquarters.

Narrative:

On landing, customs was unaware of our arrival although international flight plan was filed with 'adcus' in remarks. They requested registration, my medical and pilots license. Aircraft paperwork was produced but I apparently left my logbook (with medical and license in it) at home. I produced my drivers license and passport (and pilot license number) but they said they were going to write me up and send it to miami. Flight service needs to improve communication with customs. This could cause an unnecessary scramble of jets to identify me crossing the ADIZ and if customs is not there, many people will not wait and sneak into the country without immigration or customs. I'll check to make sure I have my license and medical with me, but with computers, they checked my license and had valid identify on me, it should not be necessary to carry these documents. It is a computer era. I do have a valid license and medical.
