Narrative:

After passing atl VORTAC, tracked outbound on wrong radial. When advised by atl, corrected course and intercepted J-14. (Opposite navigation was on correct vuz radial and did not reflect substantial off course deviation.) atl indicated that no violation was involved. Subsequent call to supervisor also indicated no operational error or flight crew violation. Mitigating factor: passing over atlanta, PF made passenger service PA. After PA, PNF engaged PF in conversation further distracting situation.

Title: FLC OF AN MD80 FAILED TO TURN TO NEW COURSE HEADING WHEN DEPARTING A VOR FIX RESULTING IN ATC INTERVENTION TO REMIND THEM OF THEIR FLT PLAN COURSE.
