Narrative:
Landed on runway 4, turned off at taxiway K, cleared to turn right on taxiway 1 and hold short of runway 33. Follow-me vehicle was waiting ahead on taxiway 1 on the other side of runway 33. I taxied looking for hold short line. Stopped just at hold short sign (runway sign) when I realized white was the color of the next intersecting piece of pavement's lights. Factors: poor airport lighting, non standard lines. (Their hold short looks like ILS hold lines.) follow-me vehicle lit up when I was not cleared to follow him. Aircraft was on takeoff roll on runway 33.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: B747 FREIGHTER AT FOREIGN ARPT TAXIING AT NIGHT HAD FOLLOW-ME VEHICLE WAITING ON OTHER SIDE OF RWY WITH LIGHTS ON INDICATING TO FOLLOW. RPTR CAPT WAS HOLDING SHORT OF RWY WHICH HAD TKOF TFC, BUT, DUE TO DIFFERENT TYPE HOLD SHORT MARKING, HE STOPPED OVER THE LINE. CONFLICT WITH DEPARTING ACFT ON RWY RESULTED.
Narrative: LANDED ON RWY 4, TURNED OFF AT TXWY K, CLRED TO TURN R ON TXWY 1 AND HOLD SHORT OF RWY 33. FOLLOW-ME VEHICLE WAS WAITING AHEAD ON TXWY 1 ON THE OTHER SIDE OF RWY 33. I TAXIED LOOKING FOR HOLD SHORT LINE. STOPPED JUST AT HOLD SHORT SIGN (RWY SIGN) WHEN I REALIZED WHITE WAS THE COLOR OF THE NEXT INTERSECTING PIECE OF PAVEMENT'S LIGHTS. FACTORS: POOR ARPT LIGHTING, NON STANDARD LINES. (THEIR HOLD SHORT LOOKS LIKE ILS HOLD LINES.) FOLLOW-ME VEHICLE LIT UP WHEN I WAS NOT CLRED TO FOLLOW HIM. ACFT WAS ON TKOF ROLL ON RWY 33.
