Narrative:
On oct/xa/97 I departed gai for local VFR flight. No radio on board. After several hours of flight, decided to land at cgs. Pattern was clear of traffic, runway was clear of obstacles or markings. Made normal approach and landed runway 15 without incident. After shutdown, was advised by FAA and NTSB personnel that airport was closed due to accident investigation. FAA official demanded paperwork and pilot information. All paperwork had been inadvertently left at gai. Aircraft had been in airshow the previous week. Because there is no secure storage in the aircraft, pilot keeps paperwork on his person. (Paperwork and flight articles have been removed at other airshows.) paperwork has also blown out of aircraft. Because pilot keeps paperwork on his person, it was inadvertently left on hangar floor after preflight. All paperwork is current and in order.

Title: PLT OF A BOEING BIPLANE A75 STEARMAN, LANDED AT A CLOSED ARPT AND WAS FOUND BY AN FAA INSPECTOR TO NOT HAVE ACFT REGISTRATION, AIRWORTHINESS OR WT AND BAL CERTIFICATES ABOARD THE ACFT.
Narrative: ON OCT/XA/97 I DEPARTED GAI FOR LCL VFR FLT. NO RADIO ON BOARD. AFTER SEVERAL HRS OF FLT, DECIDED TO LAND AT CGS. PATTERN WAS CLR OF TFC, RWY WAS CLR OF OBSTACLES OR MARKINGS. MADE NORMAL APCH AND LANDED RWY 15 WITHOUT INCIDENT. AFTER SHUTDOWN, WAS ADVISED BY FAA AND NTSB PERSONNEL THAT ARPT WAS CLOSED DUE TO ACCIDENT INVESTIGATION. FAA OFFICIAL DEMANDED PAPERWORK AND PLT INFO. ALL PAPERWORK HAD BEEN INADVERTENTLY LEFT AT GAI. ACFT HAD BEEN IN AIRSHOW THE PREVIOUS WK. BECAUSE THERE IS NO SECURE STORAGE IN THE ACFT, PLT KEEPS PAPERWORK ON HIS PERSON. (PAPERWORK AND FLT ARTICLES HAVE BEEN REMOVED AT OTHER AIRSHOWS.) PAPERWORK HAS ALSO BLOWN OUT OF ACFT. BECAUSE PLT KEEPS PAPERWORK ON HIS PERSON, IT WAS INADVERTENTLY LEFT ON HANGAR FLOOR AFTER PREFLT. ALL PAPERWORK IS CURRENT AND IN ORDER.
