Narrative:
During descent to dfw, #1 engine strut overheat light came on. Retarded throttle, completed checklist, contacted maintenance and dispatch, all agreed to secure #1 engine. Declared emergency, notified flight attendants. Landing was uneventful. Rescue said aircraft was ok. Taxied to gate. Controllers/maintenance/dispatch/flight attendants and crew all did a great job. Passenger deplaned very positive manner.

Title: FLC OF A 3 ENG LGT SHUT DOWN THE #1 ENG AND DECLARED AN EMER AFTER THE STRUT OVERHEAT LIGHT CAME ON, AND EXPEDITING LET DOWN TO THEIR ORIGINAL DEST.
Narrative: DURING DSCNT TO DFW, #1 ENG STRUT OVERHEAT LIGHT CAME ON. RETARDED THROTTLE, COMPLETED CHKLIST, CONTACTED MAINT AND DISPATCH, ALL AGREED TO SECURE #1 ENG. DECLARED EMER, NOTIFIED FLT ATTENDANTS. LNDG WAS UNEVENTFUL. RESCUE SAID ACFT WAS OK. TAXIED TO GATE. CTLRS/MAINT/DISPATCH/FLT ATTENDANTS AND CREW ALL DID A GREAT JOB. PAX DEPLANED VERY POSITIVE MANNER.
