Narrative:
On rollout after landing, the tower told me to exit the runway at an exit that was inappropriate for the speed of the aircraft. May I remind the FAA that as captain I am the one who should decide when to exit due to the speed on rollout not the tower controller. Also it is distracting to have the tower giving exit instructions when the captain is using normal braking and reversing. As it was, the tower had cleared an aircraft into position and hold while I was still on landing roll so what's the hurry, it is also hard on the aircraft brakes, steering, etc.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: PLT OF A CPR TWIN TURBO PROP SMT FAILED TO TURN OFF THE RWY AT THE EXIT REQUESTED BY THE TWR DUE TO SPD. TWR CTLR REQUESTED TURN OFF DURING LNDG ROLL WHICH WAS DISTURBING TO THE RPTR SINCE HE WAS BUSY STOPPING THE ACFT.
Narrative: ON ROLLOUT AFTER LNDG, THE TWR TOLD ME TO EXIT THE RWY AT AN EXIT THAT WAS INAPPROPRIATE FOR THE SPD OF THE ACFT. MAY I REMIND THE FAA THAT AS CAPT I AM THE ONE WHO SHOULD DECIDE WHEN TO EXIT DUE TO THE SPD ON ROLLOUT NOT THE TWR CTLR.
