Narrative:
I departed mdh for a short cross country training flight. The mdh WX station as well as the columbia FSS were reporting ceiling and visibility of 5000 ft overcast and 7 mi. Upon climb out from mdh, I encountered complete overcast with zero visibility at 2000 ft MSL. I advised mdh tower of my intentions to turn back to the airport, as I was still in mdh class D airspace. I made a 180 degree turn back to the airport and descended out of the clouds. I then made a PIREP to the mdh tower of an 1800 ft MSL ceiling with visibility of 3 mi. I landed without incident, and made another PIREP to the columbia FSS.
