Narrative:
Fll 8 departure (FLL8.fll) thndr transition. Radar vectors to intercept 335 degree radial from dolphin (dhp). I had this page out on the yoke. As you read the page looking down at it (the page is at an angle to my eyes) the 335 degrees looks like 355 degrees. The first officer had his page in his binder next to him and made the same mistake. I recommend changing the top portion of the number 3 so it does not look like a 5.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: LGT ACFT ON SID, FLC MISREAD RADIAL FOR DEP AND FLEW OUT WRONG ONE. RPTR CAPT SUGGESTS MAKING THE DIFFERENCE BTWN 3 AND 5 MORE PRONOUNCED.
Narrative: FLL 8 DEP (FLL8.FLL) THNDR TRANSITION. RADAR VECTORS TO INTERCEPT 335 DEG RADIAL FROM DOLPHIN (DHP). I HAD THIS PAGE OUT ON THE YOKE. AS YOU READ THE PAGE LOOKING DOWN AT IT (THE PAGE IS AT AN ANGLE TO MY EYES) THE 335 DEGS LOOKS LIKE 355 DEGS. THE FO HAD HIS PAGE IN HIS BINDER NEXT TO HIM AND MADE THE SAME MISTAKE. I RECOMMEND CHANGING THE TOP PORTION OF THE NUMBER 3 SO IT DOES NOT LOOK LIKE A 5.
