Narrative:
I was following an mdt Y 2 engine turboprop on a VOR runway 13L lead-in-light approach at jfk. The aircraft ahead of the mdt Y, a widebody transport, made a missed approach. There was a layer of scud, tops 800' and bottoms at 500'. We lost contact with the mdt Y on final. Approach control asked the mdt Y his intentions and he replied he would continue the approach. I saw the lead-in-lights for the first quarter mile then they were obscured by the scud. I called for a missed approach, started a climb. The first officer informed approach we missed and the controller came back with 'what would you like to do?' the first officer asked for instructions again. About that time the aircraft came up out of the scud in our flight path. The controller gave us 2000' (missed approach is 4000'). I was already at 2300', continued the climb to 3000' to avoid the mdt Y. Approach was informed of our traffic and our altitude, which he approved and gave us a right turn to 225 degree. Our approach speed was 155 KTS and go-around was 200+ KTS.

Title: WDB FOLLOWING MDT ON VOR RWY 13L&R (CANARSIE) AT JFK EXECUTES A MISSED APCH, MDT ALSO EXECUTES THE MISSED AND CLIMBS INTO THE WDB FLT PATH CAUSING EVASIVE ACTION BY WDB. OBVIOUS SPEED DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE 2 ACFT.
Narrative: I WAS FOLLOWING AN MDT Y 2 ENGINE TURBOPROP ON A VOR RWY 13L LEAD-IN-LIGHT APCH AT JFK. THE ACFT AHEAD OF THE MDT Y, A WDB, MADE A MISSED APCH. THERE WAS A LAYER OF SCUD, TOPS 800' AND BOTTOMS AT 500'. WE LOST CONTACT WITH THE MDT Y ON FINAL. APCH CTL ASKED THE MDT Y HIS INTENTIONS AND HE REPLIED HE WOULD CONTINUE THE APCH. I SAW THE LEAD-IN-LIGHTS FOR THE FIRST QUARTER MILE THEN THEY WERE OBSCURED BY THE SCUD. I CALLED FOR A MISSED APCH, STARTED A CLIMB. THE F/O INFORMED APCH WE MISSED AND THE CTLR CAME BACK WITH 'WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE TO DO?' THE F/O ASKED FOR INSTRUCTIONS AGAIN. ABOUT THAT TIME THE ACFT CAME UP OUT OF THE SCUD IN OUR FLT PATH. THE CTLR GAVE US 2000' (MISSED APCH IS 4000'). I WAS ALREADY AT 2300', CONTINUED THE CLIMB TO 3000' TO AVOID THE MDT Y. APCH WAS INFORMED OF OUR TFC AND OUR ALT, WHICH HE APPROVED AND GAVE US A RIGHT TURN TO 225 DEG. OUR APCH SPEED WAS 155 KTS AND GO-AROUND WAS 200+ KTS.
