Narrative:

On climb out of clt en route to lax, we were assigned to climb to FL230. While first officer hand flew the departure, the 'a' flight attendant came up to discuss a problem about the in-flight movie. Both pilots became involved in the discussion. As she left the cockpit, the first officer realized they were passing FL230 and immediately corrected the climb. However, during this process, the aircraft reached FL235 before it could be reversed and descended to FL230. ATC made no comment and as far as we know, no other aircraft was affected. A few seconds after we were level at FL230, ATC cleared us to climb to FL310.
