Narrative:

At FL200 descent into phl, #4 engine entered a steady stall state. The engine was shut down. A decision was made to attempt a restart below 10000 ft MSL. The restart was not successful. The engine was again shut down. Due to workload of the crew and ATC, the engine shutdown was not reported to the tower. A normal VFR landing was made at hnl airport.

Title: A B747 FREIGHTER LANDS AT HNL WITH 1 ENG SHUT DOWN. THE CREW HAD NOT NOTIFIED ATC OF THIS PROB. THE ENG FAILED TO COME OUT OF INFLT IDLE TWICE, ONCE AFTER DSCNT, AND A SECOND TIME AFTER HAVING BEEN SHUT DOWN AND AN AIR RESTART MADE.

THE ENG WAS AGAIN SHUT DOWN. DUE TO WORKLOAD OF THE CREW AND ATC, THE ENG SHUTDOWN WAS NOT RPTED TO THE TWR. A NORMAL VFR LNDG WAS MADE AT HNL ARPT.
