Narrative:
Departed cur before receiving our ATC IFR clearance. WX was VFR. Obtained clearance shortly after departure. Suggestion: review international operations for caribbean, where it is common to receive the clearance just prior to takeoff -- yet the only place clearance is discussed is in the before starting checklist.

Narrative: DEPARTED CUR BEFORE RECEIVING OUR ATC IFR CLRNC. WX WAS VFR. OBTAINED CLRNC SHORTLY AFTER DEP. SUGGESTION: REVIEW INTL OPS FOR CARIBBEAN, WHERE IT IS COMMON TO RECEIVE THE CLRNC JUST PRIOR TO TKOF -- YET THE ONLY PLACE CLRNC IS DISCUSSED IS IN THE BEFORE STARTING CHKLIST.
