Narrative:
On vectors to lax for a visual to runway 24L, following traffic (in sight). We were cleared for a visual to runway 24L when almost on the final approach course. Heading was 160 degrees with a 25 KT tailwind. The controller cleared us for the visual from a 220 degree heading. I began the right turn to 220 degrees as the localizer came alive, maintained a 30 degree bank, and crossed over the centerline of runway 24. So I continued turn to approximately 270 degree heading to reintercept final. During turn (last 20 degrees or so), TCASII TA indicated traffic behind. I wasn't sure whether traffic was for south complex or north. First officer spotted traffic behind and to the right (for runway 24R) and announced it at same time we got an RA climb. Also during RA, ATC was telling me to correct back to final which I was already doing. The first officer had traffic in sight and RA stopped before I made a correction. Therefore, I continued approach with no further incident. I believe this situation arose due to ATC runway visuals too close together and not taking the wind into account. Strong north wind pushing aircraft south towards other complex. ATC should not assume we will get other aircraft visually in time for turn.

Narrative: ON VECTORS TO LAX FOR A VISUAL TO RWY 24L, FOLLOWING TFC (IN SIGHT). WE WERE CLRED FOR A VISUAL TO RWY 24L WHEN ALMOST ON THE FINAL APCH COURSE. HDG WAS 160 DEGS WITH A 25 KT TAILWIND. THE CTLR CLRED US FOR THE VISUAL FROM A 220 DEG HDG. I BEGAN THE R TURN TO 220 DEGS AS THE LOC CAME ALIVE, MAINTAINED A 30 DEG BANK, AND CROSSED OVER THE CTRLINE OF RWY 24. SO I CONTINUED TURN TO APPROX 270 DEG HDG TO REINTERCEPT FINAL. DURING TURN (LAST 20 DEGS OR SO), TCASII TA INDICATED TFC BEHIND. I WASN'T SURE WHETHER TFC WAS FOR S COMPLEX OR N. I BELIEVE THIS SIT AROSE DUE TO ATC RWY VISUALS TOO CLOSE TOGETHER AND NOT TAKING THE WIND INTO ACCOUNT. STRONG N WIND PUSHING ACFT S TOWARDS OTHER COMPLEX. ATC SHOULD NOT ASSUME WE WILL GET OTHER ACFT VISUALLY IN TIME FOR TURN.
