Narrative:
We departed jfk on runway 31L. The SID states to make turn to the left; east of the 039 degree off of cri VOR. Go direct to cri and track the 223 degree radial to rngrr. We were just east of cri about 3/10 of a mile. Heading 245 to intercept the 223 degree radial. We were less than half DOT deflection of the 223 degree radial. The plane was on autoplt and we were in navigation mode. The wind was 310 degrees at 35 KTS at 3000 ft. That's what was holding us off course. Ny gave us a number to call. The plane showed it was tracking 223 degree radial. We called ny departure via phone and they said not to worry.
