Narrative:

After arrival at rdu I neglected to closeout the aircraft logbook at the completion of the parking checklist. There really is no excuse. I simply broke the rule to always sign the book when it comes up on the checklist. In this case the first officer placed the log on the glare shield at the conclusion of the checklist. We had previously placed 2 write-ups in the log. I said I would sign it after closing up my kit and was then distracted. In the future, I will not break the rule. This was a good lesson in checklist discipline.
