Narrative:
Event: flight departed ewr en route to sfo. The flight started out in a routine manner. At approximately 3 1/2 hours into the flight, the first flight attendant mentioned a burning smell coming from the forward galley area. The first officer was sent back to investigate and returned, confirming a strong smell of something burning (ovens off). The captain also investigated the smell. Dispatch was notified and we diverted to slc and landed uneventfully. The rescue team was standing by as we taxied to the gate. The passenger deplaned from the jetway.

Title: WDB ACFT AT CRUISE HAS A BURNING ODOR NOTICED BY FLT ATTENDANT. CHK BY BOTH CAPT AND FO FOR THE SOURCE. UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE PROB SO THE FLT DIVERTS TO SLC.
Narrative: EVENT: FLT DEPARTED EWR ENRTE TO SFO. THE FLT STARTED OUT IN A ROUTINE MANNER. AT APPROX 3 1/2 HRS INTO THE FLT, THE FIRST FLT ATTENDANT MENTIONED A BURNING SMELL COMING FROM THE FORWARD GALLEY AREA. THE FO WAS SENT BACK TO INVESTIGATE AND RETURNED, CONFIRMING A STRONG SMELL OF SOMETHING BURNING (OVENS OFF). THE CAPT ALSO INVESTIGATED THE SMELL. DISPATCH WAS NOTIFIED AND WE DIVERTED TO SLC AND LANDED UNEVENTFULLY. THE RESCUE TEAM WAS STANDING BY AS WE TAXIED TO THE GATE. THE PAX DEPLANED FROM THE JETWAY.
