Narrative:
On climb out got TCASII traffic warning to descend at 1000 FPM. Followed TCASII. Center called and said he had called us 3 times. We never heard him. After clear of conflict found we had not reset altimeters climbing through 5000 ft. Altimeter was 29.97 and we should have been on 29.92. We had been distracted on climb out with a lateral trim problem and the controller's radio xmissions were distorted.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: FLC OF A WDB ACR FORGOT TO RESET ALTIMETERS DURING DEP CLB DUE DISTR OF A LATERAL TRIM CTL PROB RESULTING IN A TCASII WARNING TO DSND, TO WHICH THEY RESPONDED. MEANWHILE, ATC HAD BEEN TRYING TO CALL RPTR 3 TIMES TO ALERT HIM OF AN IMPENDING CONFLICT AND THEIR ALT OVERSHOOT BUT WERE UNSUCCESSFUL DUE TO EQUIP FLC DISTR.
