Narrative:
Location: ILS runway 4R ord. WX reported 360 degrees, 11 KTS, 6-RA broken 8 overcast, altimeter 29.61. On ILS runway 4R, 1.2 mi outside naper at 4000 ft, experienced 1 DOT localizer deflection either side center. Inside rekks, localizer deflected 1/2 DOT each side centerline, but we had visual with runway. Followed heavy jet 5 mi ahead. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: reporter captain didn't know what caused the deflection but surmised it was caused by the heavy jet 5 mi in front on the same ILS. Reporter didn't question the tower or carry it any further than a company report. She said she has heard from other pilots that it is a recurring event at ord.

INSIDE REKKS, LOC DEFLECTED 1/2 DOT EACH SIDE CTRLINE, BUT WE HAD VISUAL WITH RWY. FOLLOWED HVY JET 5 MI AHEAD. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: RPTR CAPT DIDN'T KNOW WHAT CAUSED THE DEFLECTION BUT SURMISED IT WAS CAUSED BY THE HVY JET 5 MI IN FRONT ON THE SAME ILS. RPTR DIDN'T QUESTION THE TWR OR CARRY IT ANY FURTHER THAN A COMPANY RPT. SHE SAID SHE HAS HEARD FROM OTHER PLTS THAT IT IS A RECURRING EVENT AT ORD.
